Dear Club Member;
I hope that you are well and able to enjoy some of this sunshine!
Following the Government’s statement announcing a change to the lockdown rules from Wednesday 13th May I am writing to you again on behalf of the committee to update you on the club’s position.
Unfortunately, the club house and facilities need to remain closed. Sports club houses are specifically mentioned in current guidance and must remain closed.
“Clubs facilities should remain closed and there should be no group paddling or club activity at this time.”- British Canoeing 12th May
The British Canoeing website has posted useful guidance and is linked below…
With most of us itching to get out on the water the easing of the lockdown rules mean that it might be possible for some of us to get out there on a small family group basis. Please be mindful of the normal safety precautions you would always take!
To be clear, people should only paddle on their own or with members of their own household or on a one to one basis with someone from another household.
Sadly members cannot currently use club facilities (the arches) or club equipment.
“Further advice for individual paddlers; In this first phase of return to activity, all individual paddlers should restrict their paddlesport activities to environments which are well within their capabilities, alert friends and family to their activity and predicted return times and ensure they have a means to call for help, handy at all times.” – British Canoeing 12th May
Thinking of the future there are some special offers around for new kit and related shiny things, John C had a look around and found that the BCU has made up a list should anyone want some retail therapy.
….and finally. I have created another playlist of outdoor fun should you wish to enjoy some more wet and wild inspiration, this one has a club celebrity in one of the vids.
Look after yourselves !
MKC Chairperson on behalf of the committee
P.S. If you wish to collect and take away your own boat or equipment please get in touch.
